Halloween Lesson Plans

It's Halloween week! 😳👻

And I know you might be scrambling to make this week extra special for your students (especially if you have multiple grades to prep for!)

So I wanted to make sure you have everything you need to make this week a success!

First things first... I made you some FREE, editable math warmups for the entire week!!!

Access the Lower Secondary Math Halloween Warmups Here

Access the Upper Secondary Math Halloween Warmups Here

On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, you'll see a "trick or treat" option on the lesson plans below. Here's how it works...

You'll provide a set of notes or worksheets for your students to complete and tell students they'll earn a Trick or a Treat based on their behavior and focus during the lesson.

You can print these trick or treat cards and set them on individual student desks or evaluate the class as a whole and give them the Trick (halloween-themed math problems) or Treat (engaging halloween math game) linked for the day!

1. Monday

Hook: This mood-setting video will transport your students to a rainy neighborhood during Halloween. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQPak0N-1hU
Activity: Choose from 6 different Halloween Maze activities here.
Close: Would you rather question - Would you rather dress up as a linear function or an ordered pair for Halloween? Why?

2. Tuesday

Hook: Explain how students can earn "Trick or Treat" based on behavior during the lesson.
Activity: Whatever notes or practice you have on the agenda for the day.
Close: Trick or Treat time. Students who earn a Treat get to play this Quizizz game. Students who earn a trick must answer these word problems (I made three versions for grades 5 - High school).

3. Wednesday

Hook: Explain how students can earn "Trick or Treat" based on behavior during the lesson.
Activity: Whatever notes or practice you have on the agenda for the day.
Close: Trick or Treat time. Students who earn a Treat get to play this GimKit game. Students who earn a trick must write 2 of their own halloween-themed math problems, based on what they learned today.

4. Thursday

Hook: This mood-setting video will transport your students to a haunted mansion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoQmjTApJsw&pp=ygUeaGF1bnRlZCBob3VzZSBiYWNrZ3JvdW5kIHZpZGVv
Activity: Halloween Math Mystery activity.
Close: Would you rather question - Would you rather have a pound of Snickers or 8 Twix bars? Why?

5. Friday

Hook: Explain how students can earn "Trick or Treat" based on behavior during the lesson.

Activity: Whatever notes or practice you have on the agenda for the day. Set a timer for the notes/practice and tell students they'll earn a Trick or a Treat based on their behavior and focus during the lesson. You can print these trick or treat cards and set them on individual student desks or evaluate the class as a whole and give them the Trick or Treat below!

Close: Trick or Treat time. Students who earn a Treat get to play this Jeopardy game (not math related). Students who earn a trick may play, but they will have a -200 point deduction from their total.
